Phillies Win NLDS Ending Braves Hopes For Back to Back World Series Titles

The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Atlanta Braves in Game 4 of the NLDS 8-3 and will advance to their first NLCS since 2010. Home runs from Brandon Marsh, J.T. Realmuto (an inside the park HR no less) and Bryce Harper along with a RBI single from Rhys Hopkins accounted for the Phillies offense.

The Phillies face either the Los Angeles Dodgers or San Diego Padres in that contest. The Padres hold a 2-1 NLDS lead over the Dodgers and could clinch later this evening.

The Phillies' triumph ends hopes for back to back World Series titles for the Braves. This year's edition of the Braves won 101 games in the regular season as opposed to the 88 games they won a year ago. But this meant nothing to the Phillies who won 87 regular season games. The Phillies demonstrated they were the hungrier team. The question now is whether their appetites have been satiated or whetted.
