Mariners Erase 7-Run Deficit to Sweep Blue Jays; Advance to ALDS vs. Astros

The Seattle Mariners, down 8-1 after 5 innings, came back to win 10-9 in Game 2 of the AL Wild Card Series and sweep the Toronto Blue Jays in front of a stunned crowd at the Rogers Centre

The Mariners would score four runs in the 6th inning, three of which came as a result of a HR from veteran Carlos Santana to cut the deficit to 8-5. However, the Jays would get one run back on a single by Danny Jansen. But the Mariners answered with four runs in the 8th on a Cal Raleigh single and a bases loaded double by J.P. Crawford to tie the game at 9-9. On the play, Blue Jays outfielders Bo Bichette and George Springer collided forcing Springer to be taken out on a stretcher. With the wind knocked out of their sails, Adam Frazier drove in the go ahead run in the 9th on a double and eliminated the Blue Jays from post-season play.

Seattle advances to the ALDS and will face the Houston Astros starting on Tuesday in Houston. While the Astros will be heavily favored, it would be fitting if the Mariners knocked off their AL West division rival.
