U.S. Surpasses 5 Million COVID-19 Cases While New Zealand Has Had No New Cases in 100 Days

The United States has now surpassed 5 million COVID-19 cases. According to Johns Hopkins University, as of this writing, there are 5.036,387 COVID cases with it costing the lives of 162,851 Americans with a mortality rate of 3.2%.

Meanwhile, New Zealand has not had a single positive case in 100 days. In other words, New Zealand hasn't had a new case since May 1st. By contrast, the United States has nearly 4 million new cases since May 1st. Mind you, the United States had already surpassed the 1 million mark and states had begun to reopen while New Zealand had slightly more than 1,200 cases and didn't begin reopening until June.

New Zealanders go to the polls next month. If any leader in the world has earned their re-election it is Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern who refers to her countrymen as "our team of five million." Could you imagine President Trump deploying such language? So long as Donald Trump is President of the United States it is inconceivable that we will manage to go a day without a single new COVID-19 case let alone one hundred.
