After weeks of Trump Administration officials like Peter Navarro publicly blasting Fauci or Trump retweeting anti-Fauci tweets while promoting junk science, Trump took it a step further today by directly tweeting that Dr. Fauci was "wrong" about the surge of COVID-19 in the United States. Trump included video of Dr. Fauci testifying before a House panel in which he said the U.S. shutdown measures were less comprehensive than our European counterparts and lifted far too soon.
To which Trump replied:
Wrong! We have more cases because we have tested far more than any other country, 60,000,000. If we tested less, there would be less cases. How did Italy, France & Spain do? Now Europe sadly has flare ups. Most of our governors worked hard & smart. We will come back STRONG!
With that Donald J. Trump has declared that he knows more about the spread of infectious diseases than the nation's leading immunologist. This tells me that President Trump is more interested in stopping Dr. Fauci than stopping COVID-19.
It appears to me that Trump is trying to make Fauci quit. My guess is that Fauci is going to hold on and force Trump to fire him. Either way this working relationship appears untenable.
What is untenable is a President who disregards scientific knowledge in favor of medical quackery which believes in alien DNA, sex with demons and vaccines to stop making people religious. It would be funny if we didn't have 150,000 dead Americans and counting.
And all this because people like Dr. Fauci better than they like Trump. November cannot come fast enough.
