Inslee Will Leave a Light Footprint in The 2020 Democratic Race

On Friday, Jay Inslee became the first Governor to throw his hat into the 2020 race for the Democratic Party nomination for the White House. Inslee, a former Congressman who has been Governor of Washington since 2013, is making climate change the centerpiece of his campaign.

But with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's Green New Deal captivating the progressive wing of the Democratic Party I'm not sure what Inslee could do to make the issue his own. the best Inslee can hope for is either consideration as a VP running mate or as a future head of the EPA in a Democratic administration. Otherwise, Inslee's imprint in the 2020 campaign will be a light one.
