Suffice it to say that I am delighted that Edan Alexander, the American born hostage who served in the IDF has been freed from captivity and reunited with his family.
Alexander was the last known living American born hostage being held by Hamas. There remain 58 hostages, but only 23 of them are believed to be alive.
His release is being described as a goodwill gesture by Hamas towards the Trump Administration.
I hate to break it to people, but Hamas does nothing out of goodwill.
Neither does the Trump Administration.
Given the Trump Administration's shift in rhetoric against Israel as exemplified by Steve Witkoff who blamed Israel for prolonging the war.
I cannot help but think that Trump has promised Hamas some things and Alexander was released because of those promises.
The end result of which could be an Iran nuclear deal weaker than the one entered into by President Obama along with recognition of Hamas and their rule over Gaza.
Should this come to pass then the Trump Administration has guaranteed that Hamas will launch more October 7th inspired attacks against Israeli civilians as they have long promised.
Hamas will destroy Israel, and the Trump Administration is going to let it happen.
President Trump is no friend to Israel, no friend to the Jews.
Yet whatever may come, I am glad that Edan Alexander is no longer in the hands of Hamas and is now free to live his life as he chooses even if those choices don't come easily.
