Michigan Democratic Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib is calling upon Democratic voters to vote against President Biden in the Michigan Democratic Primary scheduled to take place on February 27th.
Tlaib has been furious with President Biden over his support for Israel following Hamas attack against Israeli civilians on October 7th of last year. She erroneously stated that Israel had bombed a hospital in Gaza even after it had been established that Israel had done no such thing. Tlaib's younger sister Layla Elabed has organized a campaign called "Listen to Michigan" urging Democratic voters to write "uncommitted" on their ballots in response to Biden's pro-Israel position.
Let us assume that Biden's position on Israel does not change sufficiently for Tlaib. Does this mean she will call upon Democrats to vote "uncommitted" in November? In so doing, Tlaib is providing aid and comfort to defeated, former President Donald Trump. Considering that Michigan is among the most crucial of swing states, her actions could not only hand Michigan to Trump but the White House as well.
Michigan Democrats must not tolerate this behavior and ought to find someone who will challenge Tlaib in the Democratic primary. It won't be easy considering that Tlaib has raised $3.7 million since her censure back in November for her anti-Semitic statements. This certainly might discourage challengers. But given that Tlaib is openly telling Democrats not to vote for President Biden, her actions cannot go unchallenged.
