I did not watch the 2023 MLB All-Star Game which was played tonight in Seattle.
Among the other things I hate about baseball is that instead of wearing their team uniforms, AL and NL players were league uniforms.
Worse still is if the game went to extra innings there would have been a HR derby to decide the winner. That's almost as bad as the ghost runner.
Fortunately, it didn't come to that as a 2-run HR by Colorado Rockies catcher Elias Diaz proved the difference as the National League prevailed 3-2 winning its first All-Star Game since 2012 which would earn him All-Star Game MVP. It also might earn him a trade away from the last place Rockies in a couple of weeks. Philadelphia Phillies reliever Craig Kimbrel walked two batters in the 9th but struck out Jose Ramirez of the Cleveland Guardians to end the game and end the Senior Circuit's All-Star drought.
There was a time when the NL was absolutely dominant in the midsummer classic. Between 1963 and 1982, the NL won 19 out of 20 All-Star Games. But in the past 40 years, it is only the 10th time the NL has won the contest.
Next year, the 2024 MLB All-Star Game will take place at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas where the Texas Rangers play their home games.
