The United States has surpassed 50 million COVID-19 cases and is fast approaching 800,000 deaths. According to Johns Hopkins University, there have been 50,115,334 cases of COVID-19 resulting in 798,682 deaths representing a mortality rate of 1.6%.
After taking 10 days to go from 48 to 49 million cases, it took 9 days to go from 49 to 50 million as the Omicron variant has begun to surge with the Delta variant not abating either with hospitalizations now overwhelming the health care system once more. California has now seen fit to reintroduce a statewide indoor mask mandate for 30 days. New York's new 30 day indoor mask mandate went into effect today although some counties and municipalities are refusing to enforce it.
Some people (including people in positions of authority) will never learn. And as long as that is true these indoor mask mandates will become a permanent part of our lives. Which also means the pandemic will be a permanent part of our lives. Most certainly in America.
