Addison Russell Ties World Series Record with 6 RBI & Gets No Love From FOX

The Chicago Cubs beat the Cleveland Indians 9-3 in Game 6 of the World Series to force the deciding Game 7 tomorrow night.

Six of the Cubs' nine runs were driven in by shortstop Addison Russell. In the first inning, Russell drove in two runs with a double that landed between Indians' outfielders Tyler Naquin and Lonnie Chisenhall. In the top of the 3rd, Russell hit a grand slam home run.

Russell's 6 RBI tied a World Series record that he shares with Bobby Richardson, Hideki Matsui and Albert Pujols. Richardson did it with the New York Yankees in the 1960 World Series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Matsui also did it with the Yankees nearly half a century later in the 2009 World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies while Pujols did it while with the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2011 World Series against the Texas Rangers.

But FOX broadcasters Joe Buck and John Smoltz did not mention this tidbit. Instead they focused on the exploits of Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo. Don't get me wrong. They both had home runs while Bryant had a four hit game. But Buck and Smoltz went as far as to say that Bryant and Rizzo (as well as Ben Zobrist) were responsible for Russell's success as if Russell didn't have to swing the bat.

Their effort to downplay Russell's record tying achievement is most very puzzling and even more annoying.

Why I keep the volume up I honestly don't know.

But there will be baseball for one more night. Game 7 can't come soon enough.
