For more than two centuries, it has been established that impeachment is not an appropriate response to disagreement concerning a judicial decision. The normal appellate review process exists for that purpose.
Needless to say, MAGA world which had recently turned its ire on Trump appointed Associate Justice Amy Coney Barrett before Trump came to her defense, has now turned its attention to Roberts as demonstrated by Townhall.com's Matt Vespa:
Know your role; shut your hole, an axiom that should be slapped across Boasberg and Roberts’ faces.
Until this issue comes before your dais, just be quiet.
Vespa is being vacuous. Chief Justice Roberts wasn't commenting on the merits of the case in question. He merely suggested the President was out of line in demanding the impeachment of a judge who ruled against him. There's nothing in Roberts' statement which would indicate the Supreme Court would rule against Trump in this case if the case were to come before them. After all, it was Chief Justice Roberts who bestowed Trump with presidential immunity.
But that Roberts would grant Trump immunity isn't enough for MAGA world much less Roberts' public criticism of former President Obama for his criticism of the Supreme Court ruling in Citizens United back in 2010. In being granted presidential immunity, MAGA world wants judges to also grant Trump presidential obsequiousness at all times.
Despite his rebuke of Trump concerning Boasberg, don't be surprised Roberts votes Trump way when this case comes before the Supreme Court. Judge Roberts will give MAGA their cake. They will then eat it and still not be satisfied.
