Future Hall of Fame closer Kenley Jansen has reportedly signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Angels worth $10 million.
Jansen, 37, spent the past two seasons with the Boston Red Sox. The Curaçao native spent the bulk of his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers before joining the Atlanta Braves in 2022.
Given that the Angels haven’t had a winning record in a decade, I would not be shocked if Jansen were to finish the 2025 season in a different uniform.
Jansen enters the 2025 season with 447 career saves, the 4th most in MLB history. He needs 32 saves to surpass Lee Smith for 3rd place on the all-time saves list. Mariano Rivera and Trevor Hoffman own the top two spots with 652 and 601 saves, respectively. I don’t know if Jansen will reach 600 saves, but he’s got a good chance for 500 saves whatever uniform he wears.
