Bregman, 30, has played his entire 9-year MLB career with the Houston Astros, where he won 2 World Series rings in 2017 & 2022. Although Bregman has been a third baseman his entire career, he will most likely play second base with Rafael Devers ensconsed at the hot corner.
There are opt out provisions following both the 2025 & 2026 seasons. I wonder if Bregman will be a good fit in Boston. They do need a right-handed batter who can hit it over the Green Monster. But his involvement in the Astros cheating scandal doesn't quite sit right with me. Then again Red Sox manager Alex Cora was at the center of it, too. So my concerns only go so far. A reunion with Cora could boost Bregman. Not that he was bad in 2024 hitting ,260 with 26 HR and 75 RBI. He enters 2025 with 1132 hits for a lifetime batting average of .272 with 191 HR and 663 RBI.
