Tories Take a 13 Point Lead Over Liberals In Latest Poll in Canada

The SNC-Lavalin scandal has taken its toll on Justin Trudeau's Liberal Party. In a poll released today by Angus Reid, the Liberals are now 13 points behind the Conservative Party led by Andrew Scheer. The Tories have the support of 38% of the electorate compared to 25% for the Liberals.

Most of the Liberal support has made it's way to Jagmeet Singh's NDP which now has the support of 18% of the electorate. A strong NDP weakens the Liberals while helping the Tories. The Green Party led by Elizabeth May is at 11%, the Bloc Quebecois is at 5% with ex-Tory Maxime Bernier's People's Party at 3%. Although Scheer has more disapproval than approval (46% to 40%) this gap is nothing compared to that of Trudeau (67% to 28%).

Now it is possible this poll could be an aberration. But even if it isn't, the SNC-Lavalin scandal and Trudeau's treatment of Jody Wilson-Raybould has taken its toll. Of course, it will be another five months before Canadians can go to the polls. That will leave Trudeau plenty of time to try to convince Canadians that Scheer is a white supremacist. Such notions are sheer fantasy (or in this case Scheer fantasy), but that won't stop Trudeau. Desperation makes men do desperate things and no one in Canada is more desperate than Justin Trudeau.
