Did Anyone Other Than Ted Cruz Notice Michael Bennet is Running for President?

Yesterday, Colorado Senator Michael Bennet became the 22nd Democrat to declare his intent to run for President.

Few people noticed with perhaps the possible exception of Ted Cruz who made an outdated Seinfeld reference upon learning of Bennet's candidacy. Perhaps Cruz is smarting from when Bennet took him to the woodshed on the Senate floor last January at the height of the government shutdown. This earned Bennet about 7½ minutes of fame.

It won't be enough to sustain a presidential campaign. Frankly, Bennet will be lucky if he can outpoll his old boss, former Denver Mayor and Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper. In an earlier decade, Bennet might have got the Bruce Babbit treatment. But being a straight, middle-aged white male is anathema to the Democratic Party base. Should Trump be unseated, Bennet will be lucky to be appointed as Secretary of the Interior (the office which Babbit served during the Clinton Administration).
