If one mentions the name Marv Levy one immediately and invariably thinks of the Buffalo Bills who won four straight AFC titles, but could not win a Super Bowl.
I, however, did not know that Levy was on hand for Game 7 of the 1945 World Series at Wrigley Field when he was a 20-year old on leave from the US Army Air Corps. It was nice to see Levy honored at Wrigley Field as the Cubs played their first World Series game at Addison and Clark since that day. At 91, Levy looks hale and hearty and appears to be living well.
But it also made me think of Levy getting the Bills so close and yet so far. I thought of this even more as the Cubs lost 1-0 giving the Cleveland Indians a 2-1 lead in the World Series.
Nothing against Marv Levy. But I can't help but think his presence is a bad omen for the Cubs.
