President Trump Should Take Up Chelsea Clinton On Her Holocaust Museum Advice

Say what you will of the Clintons, but I think Chelsea Clinton offered some sensible advice after White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer today claimed Hitler didn't use chemical weapons.

The former First Daughter tweeted, "I hope @PressSec takes time to visit @HolocaustMuseum. It's a few blocks away."

In fact, I would go further than that. I think President Trump should take her up on this advice and take his entire cabinet and staff (including Sean Spicer) to the Holocaust Museum.

After all, this is the second time in just over three months the Trump White House has got itself in hot water over The Holocaust. Days after Trump took office his official statement on Holocaust Remembrance Day excluded any mention of Jews. With the way things are going it is a question of when rather than if the Trump Administration will trivialize The Holocaust.

A pilgrimage to The Holocaust Museum will buy the Trump White House enormous goodwill and an opportunity to learn a valuable lesson about humanity's darkest hours and pass that lesson onward.

There Might Just Be Another Reason Why Republican Governors in Blue States Are So Popular

In noting The Morning Consult Poll on the popularity of state governors, NRO's Alexandra DeSanctis made the following observation:

One notable theme from the list is the exceeding popularity of Republican governors in blue states. The top-ten governors on the list are all Republicans, four of whom are from typically Democratic states: Baker, as well as Larry Hogan in Maryland, Phil Scott in Vermont, and Brian Sandoval in Nevada.

The Republican Governors Association ought to be pleased, as these results indicate the group has done an excellent job of finding Republican politicians appealing enough to be elected and remain popular in traditionally blue states.

There is one reason I can think that all four of these governors are enormously popular in their states - none of them can abide President Trump and his policies.

This should give the RGA pause. Perhaps the popularity of these governors should be a message for other GOP Governors to be willing to stand up to President Trump.

Sean Spicer Needs To Go....Now

Less than three months into the Trump Administration and there's already been a lot of turnover. Michael Flynn's departure, K.T. McFarland, Steve Bannon departing the NSC and possibly headed out the door.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer should join that list - immediately.

Evidently Hitler did not gas the Jews:

We didn't use chemical weapons in World War II. You had a — someone who is as despicable as Hitler who didn't even use chemical weapons.

When Spicer tried to clarify his remarks, he only dug himself further:

I think when you come to sarin gas, he was not using the gas on his own people the same way that Assad is doing, there was not in the — he brought them into the Holocaust center. But I'm saying that in the way that Assad used them, where he went into towns, dropped them down into innocent — into the middle of towns.

By referring concentration camps as "Holocaust Centers", Spicer makes them sound like recreational facilities.

Then Spicer further tightened the noose:

In no way was I trying to lessen the horrendous nature of the Holocaust. However, I was trying to draw a contrast of the tactic of using airplanes to drop chemical weapons on innocent people.

I suppose Holocaust survivors should be grateful to Hitler that he did not need to drop chemical weapons upon their loved ones. These "Holocaust Center" had chemical weapons stored in-house for easy use.

Despite Spicer's hideous stupidity and cruelty, I doubt he will go anywhere. After all, it was President Trump who commemorated the Holocaust without mentioning the Jews and, in fact, deliberately put a kibosh on a statement drafted by the State Department which made reference to the Jews. Spicer didn't exactly cover himself in glory at the time stating those who criticized the Administration were "pathetic." Those "pathetic" people would include the United States Holocaust Museum.

As long as Sean Spicer remains the face of the Trump Administration, it will be perceived as reckless and incompetent. If Trump is smart, he will give Spicer his walking papers.

Donald Trump & Bill Clinton Would Have Totally Got Away With Robert Bentley's Behavior

I just learned about Robert Bentley's resignation as Governor of Alabama over lying about his affair with an aide and has plead guilty to two misdemeanor charges related to said cover up. By doing so, Bentley avoids impeachment.

I'm sure its in Alabama's best interests that Bentley leave office. With that said, let's be honest. Both Donald Trump and Bill Clinton would have got away with this kind behavior. Because they have.

You can be sure that a lot of the people who are appalled at Bentley's behavior enthusiastically supported Donald Trump a mere five months ago. How many Republicans in the state legislature who would have voted to impeach Bentley would vote for Trump again tomorrow? Trump has flouted his affairs without a moment's shame. Honestly I think he could get away with it now. If he dumped Melania for Kelly Anne Conway, Laura Ingraham and Ann Coulter wouldn't bat an eyelash.

Now check out this passage from Pema Levy's piece in Mother Jones concerning L'Affaire Bentley:

On Friday, the special counsel leading the impeachment investigation released a 130-page report, which found that Bentley had improperly used law enforcement officials to cover up his "inappropriate relationship" with the former aide, Rebekah Mason. "Bentley directed law enforcement to advance his personal interests and, in a process characterized by increasing obsession and paranoia, subjected career law enforcement officers to tasks intended to protect his reputation," the report says. The findings come days after the Alabama Ethics Commission found probable cause to believe Bentley committed multiple felony violations of state ethics and campaign finance laws.

Can you say Troopergate?

But that didn't stop Bill Clinton from serving two terms in the White House now did it? Now Monica Lewinsky would compel the House of Representatives to impeach Clinton and he would surrender his law licence. But he did not surrender the presidency and left office with the highest of approval ratings. Both Clinton and Trump have also been linked to billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. But nothing.

So why could Trump and Clinton get away with such behavior? Do they just have a way with people that Bentley doesn't? Do Trump and Clinton come off as studs while Bentley comes off as a Sunday school dweeb? I mean if Jake Tapper was grossed out then what about the rest of us? It would appear that certain improprieties are more offensive depending on the person who commits them.

San Bernardino Has Been Through Too Much

San Bernardino, California has once again found itself at the top of the news for the worst of reasons.

A shooting at North Park Elementary School has, as of this writing, resulted in the deaths of two adults and the wounding of two students. It is evidently a murder-suicide.

The shooting comes only16 months after an Islamic terrorist attack which resulted in the deaths of 14 people with 22 other people sustaining injuries. This is a lot for any community to handle, but San Bernardino is not a large metropolis. Two incidents of this nature occurring in a relatively short period of time is bound to scar San Bernardino for a very long time to come.

Sadly, there is not much that can be said or done in this state of affairs.

Otis Nixon is Alive & Well

Former MLB player Otis Nixon has disappeared. He was last seen on Saturday morning en route to a round of golf, but he never showed up. Police in Woodstock, Georgia are now saying they don't suspect foul play.

That gives me chills. How can police rule out foul play unless they have a body?

I don't want to create a panic. Of course, it's possible that Nixon is alive. But the use of term "no foul play suspected" is ominous.

Nixon does have a long history of substance abuse which complicates matters further.

Nevertheless, we can only hope the worse does not come to pass.

UPDATE: Our worst fears have been unrealized. Otis Nixon is alive and well. No word on what happened. For the moment it doesn't matter.

With that let's take a look at his finest moment in his 17-year big league career in 1992 when he robbed Andy Van Slyke of a home run.

Having a Flashback on Kung Fu

This past weekend on Decades TV there was a Kung Fu marathon.

It was the first time in over 30 years I had seen the show. I used to watch it with my family on Saturday nights on KBJR, the NBC affiliate from Duluth, Minnesota that we used to get in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Of course, as with millions of people, it is first thing I think of when David Carradine's name is mentioned. But what always stuck with me was the show's ambience and atmosphere. It had a slow, languid pace. Even the fight scenes were done with a deliberate pace. The Asian music added another level of authenticity. I found the scenery absolutely breathtaking. I was astonished to learn the show was shot entirely at Burbank Studios. Well, Kung Fu made the most of its confines.

When Kung Fu: The Legend Continues aired in syndication during the 1990's it lacked all the atmospheric qualities. Notwithstanding Carradine's presence, it was a run of the mill action adventure show. Although it was actually on the air than the original Kung Fu it made no imprint on the cultural landscape. I mean who would have thought of casting Jose Feliciano and Cannonball Adderley as street musicians in the middle of the desert? Check out the video of this jam with Feliciano on guitar, Adderley on sax and Carradine (who was quite an accomplished musician in his own right) on a home made flute? You would never see something like this on TV today.

Now if you will pardon me, I must have a flashback.
