Given that President Trump saw fit to publicly blame Ukraine for being invaded by Russia last week, we should not be surprised that the United States voted with Russia vetoing UN Security Council Resolutions recognizing that Russia is the aggressor in this war on its 3rd anniversary.
But while we ought not be surprised, this should make us no less angry with our government in seeing fit to become a supplicant to Moscow in standing with authoritarianism and repression and against democracy and freedom. In voting with Russia, the United States now officially bases its foreign policy on lies and misinformation. Ronald Reagan would be rolling over in his grave.
This is only the beginning and it's going to get much, much worse. There's a good chance the United States and Russia will end the war without Ukraine (with a little help from the Saudis). With it, there's the chance that President Zelenskyy will be jailed or murdered a la Alexei Navalny while a Russian puppet government is installed in Kyiv.
Should this come to pass how long will it be before the rest of Europe falls assuming French and German voters eventually see fit to choose Marine Le Pen's National Rally and AfD, which are already pro-Moscow? Nothing good can come of these events.
