Per Twitter's Hateful Conduct Policy:
You may not promote violence against or directly attack or threaten other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease. We also do not allow accounts whose primary purpose is inciting harm towards others on the basis of these categories.
The consequences of such this policy is "we have a zero tolerance policy against violent threats. Those deemed to be sharing violent threats will face immediate and permanent suspension of their account."
As of this writing, Hesham Mansour, an Egyptian writer/actor (who has the prestigious blue checkmark) tweeted this morning, "Now lets kill some jews," (as seen from the screenshot above).
I'm fairly sure this would constitute the promotion of violence and a threat towards people on the basis of their religion.
So why hasn't this account been immediately and permanently suspended? This tweet was posted more than 12 hours ago and has over a thousand likes.
I attempted to write a complaint directly to Twitter, but was unable to submit it. So I thought I would make my case here.
If this account is still active by this time tomorrow it will say a great deal about Twitter.
UPDATE: The account has been suspended. It better not be reactivated.
