Last week, Tucker Carlson welcomed Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes on his podcast.
During the interview, Fuentes railed against "organized Jewry" in America while Carlson snidely referred to "Zionist Jews". For its part, the Heritage Foundation saw fit to defend Carlson for interviewing Fuentes with its President, Kevin Roberts proclaiming Carlson "always will be a close friend of the Heritage Foundation." For bad measure, Roberts added:
The Heritage Foundation didn’t become the intellectual backbone of the conservative movement by canceling our own people or policing the consciences of Christians, and we won’t start doing that now. We will always defend our friends against the slander of bad actors who serve someone else’s agenda. That includes Tucker Carlson. Their attempt to cancel him will fail.
I guess that Roberts was never acquainted with National Review founder William F. Buckley, Jr. who saw to it that the John Birch society be relegated to the fringes of the conservative movement.
Although Carlson's interview with Fuentes caused considerable concerns amongst the ranks of the Republican Jewish Coalition, the organization tried to minimize these concerns with RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks claiming that "anti-Semitism is a very small, limited problem in our party." Some RJC officials along with Florida GOP Congressman Randy Fine claimed, "Tucker is not MAGA."
To give Fine his due, he did call Carlson "the most dangerous anti-Semite in America today."
But Fine is kidding himself if he thinks Tucker is not MAGA.
Tucker is MAGA. Very MAGA.
There is simply no way Trump selects JD Vance as his running mate without Tucker Carlson. And Vance had no problem standing by Carlson after he interviewed Darryl Cooper, a so-called "historian" who denies Hitler had a "Final Solution".
And wasn't that Carlson who had a prominent speaking slot at the RNC, at Trump's second inauguration where he notably refused to stand for freed Israeli hostages and at Charlie Kirk's funeral where he invoked Jewish blood libel comparing Kirk's assassination to the crucifixion of Christ?
So long as Tucker Carlson is in good standing with President Trump then he is still MAGA.
Until the Republican Jewish Coalition comes to the realization that Tucker Carlson and all the anti-Semites that he welcomes with open arms including Nick Fuentes are MAGA then they will be part of the problem even if they acknowledge and denounce his anti-Semitism. Yet I'm afraid by the time the RJC realizes that MAGA is overcome with anti-Semitic rot, it will be too late.
