I Have a Feeling The Anti-Semitic Violence in Amsterdam Will Soon Come to America

Last night came the horrors of an anti-Semitic attack against Israeli soccer fans in Amsterdam by pro-Palestinian hooligans which resulted in 10 people being hospitalized with Israel making arrangements to get them out of harm's way.

When I learned of what had happened in Amsterdam at the hands of pro-Palestinian hooligans, I could not help but wonder how soon it will come to America. Specifically, I wonder about American college campuses. While there have certainly been violent incidents against individual Jewish students as was the case at DePaul University earlier this week, I do think it is only a matter of time before a more coordinated effort is organized resulting in hospitalizations and deaths. It is worth noting a MIT student publicly called for pro-Palestinian activists to engage in violence. If it can happen in Amsterdam, then it can happen in America including here in Cambridge.

Of course, there are those who are rationalizing the violence against Jews in Amsterdam trying to blame Israeli soccer fans for alleged acts of racism. It's the kind of blame which was leveled at Israel on U.S. college campuses, especially at Harvard, in the hours following Hamas' ambush on October 7, 2023.

Should this violence come to pass how will America respond to it? Depending on where it happens it is unfortunately an open question. I can only hope there will be no need to answer, but I'm not counting on it.
